ZEDHomes water strategy makes it easy for residents to conserve this precious, taken-for-granted resource, by cutting mains water usage and making the most of other sources such as rainwater.
ZEDHomes aims to cut household mains water consumption by a third by:
- Installing water-efficient domestic appliances
- Using lower-volume baths and fitting taps with water-saving flow restrictors
- Installing 'dual flush' toilets (this alone could save an estimated 55,500 litres of water per household per year).
- Storing rainwater and recycled water in large tanks built into the foundations.
- Placing highly-visible water meters in the kitchen to encourage water efficiency.
- Providing a handbook for every household with tips on reducing water use.
