| Ground Source Heating
These systems take advantage of the earth's relatively constant ground temperature to provide heating. In the U.K., at several metres below the surface, the ground is always at a constant 11 - 13°C. Lengths of buried, closed-circuit, plastic pipes filled with a mixture of water and anti-freeze absorb heat from the ground. Large amounts of latent heat are then converted within a condenser into smaller amounts of high heat which can be used to warm buildings.
