Both the town centre, with its established high street names, and the park are within easy walking distance. So too is the new and striking Ashford International Train Terminal offering high-speed connections to the continent. The centre of Paris is just 3-hours door-to-door and within a few years the current journey of 1 hour 10 minutes to London will be cut to just 37mins with the introduction of faster lines and new trains.
The site has already been identified by the town council as being critical to the successful growth and economic prosperity of Ashford and the council intends the site to be developed with a mixture of residential and commercial properties. In consultation with the local community the council has adopted a charter for the development of Ashford that promises to make Ashford "a great town in a great setting." They are committed to better, smarter design that builds and links communities; that enhances Ashford's open spaces and watercourses; that is innovative, resource conserving and uses less energy; that encourages walking, sport and outdoor pursuits. The new charter demands that any new development in Ashford is one that the town can be proud of
A new community will be created that successfully blends social and privately owned homes together with a supermarket, restaurants, cafes, retail outlets, a learning institute and leisure facilities. It will bring new investment, new people and new life to a current wasteland. It will blend into its surroundings and enhance views to and from Victoria Park with sympathetic hard and soft landscaping. ZEDHomes will create a new centre for Ashford that is attractive, safe and a testament to great design.
