Development Manager - Renewable Energies

Key responsibilities:

  • To continue a solid understanding of sustainable issues. Products and designs for our residential, commercial, and retail projects.
  • To promote development and research of new and existing renewable products and techniques to allow the deliverability of Low and Zero Carbon developments nationwide.
  • To manage and understand the economic viability of products and their successful integration into the design and construction of our projects.
  • To keep an up to date technical library and dossiers on all aspects of sustainability (renewable energy, and water), including sourcing and purchasing of materials, products and services.
  • To understand professional skills of all building industry consultants, contactors and sub - contractors.
  • To create a database of suitable consultants, contractors, sub contractors and service providers from the UK and the EU who are competent and willing to embrace sustainability in projects for the benefit of Zed Homes.
  • To Liaise directly with Design Teams and external Consultants.
  • To continually appraise and reflect on the products and provide information to help such consultants understand the issues and features required by Zed Homes.
  • To assist the Marketing Department in the preparation of all technical material, and provide support in the form of answering press queries and support articles.

Management:

  • To build a motivated and effective team
  • To manage all professional consultants by ensuring they have clear guidelines, and proper briefs with detailed explanations of the objectives of each project.
  • To compliment the design team by inputting design and co-ordination knowledge of sustainability, concepts, products, space requirements and design issues.
  • To co-ordinate all consultants to form a unified team and to ensure a co-ordinated product from design to delivery.

Key Competencies:

The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. The demonstration of effective listening and questions to check understanding. The ability to persuade and influence others to gain agreement to and acceptance of ideas. Work to understand project needs, and to meet and exceed expectations and to establish and maintain longer term relationships with suppliers, consultants etc.

Skills & Experience:

Ideally a background in Mechanical and Electrical consultancy with knowledge of, and, enthusiasm for sustainability. Experience within a property development company would be useful.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the key technical drivers from the perspective of our company
  • The successful candidate should be articulate, personable and a good all rounder.
  • Proven management and leadership skills will be important as the company grows.
